Shaffiq Essajee, MD serves as a member of the CIFF HIV/AIDS Board of Advisors. He currently serves as the Senior Pediatric Advisor to the Clinton Foundation and Associate Director of New York University's (NYU) International HIV program. Shaffiq is a member of the Pediatric Faculty at NYU and has been caring for children with HIV for the past 12 years. He is a graduate of Oxford University Medical School, and completed his residency in Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco before joining the Pediatrics Infectious Disease Division at NYU. Shaffiq hails from Kenya, and in 2001 he began Kenya's first free paediatric HIV program. In addition to his work as a clinician and public health advocate, he is also a research scientist and a Scholar of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
